My Favorite Time of the Year

Hey everyone...
I know it has been a while since I've posted anything (facebook is definitely to blame for that).  I just wanted to let everyone know that this is my favorite time of the year.  For everyone who thought, oh Spring is his favorite time of the year.  The newness of life and newness of love that is found during this most beautiful of seasons shows his sensitive and romantic spirit.  To you I say "A nice thought, but completely wrong!"  This is my favorite time of the year for one simple reason...........MARCH MADNESS!!!!
I am a typical sport fanatic.  I love all sports.  I seriously can watch ESPN nearly 24/7 (Don't worry, I don't do that).  Above all other sports, I love basketball.  It is the one sport I know the most about, and the one I enjoy playing the most as well.  I also enjoy college basketball way more than professional and high school.  I love the passion that it is played with.  I like the fact that not everyone on the court is headed to the NBA, and are a little closer to being like the average person.  I love the fact that some of those athletes are amazing students (such as Peyton Manning was as the QB at Tennessee... I know it is football but it still proves my point).  And now it is time for weekends of games upon games...
It is time for office pools, school pools, facebook pools, time for brackets and debates, time for friends and food... and it'll all be capped with "One Shining Moment".  So, if you share my passion for March Madness, or you simply want to join for fun, I have created a group on CBS Sportsline.  If you want to fill out a bracket and join in the fun please copying and pasting this link:
http://vickpic.mayhem.sportsline.com/e
Just create an account and then proceed to filling a bracket.
There is no buy-in and no prize to be won.  It is simply all in good fun.  So if you love basketball, or are saying "basketball, whats that?".  Please feel free to fill out a bracket.  The password is vickers.  Come on and join.
PS The tourney starts tomorrow, so fill out your brackets now!!!

A Slightly Different Christmas

Well, tomorrow is Christmas, and I shall be on the road to Holland, MI (very happily I might add), but as exciting as that is, I have something else to say.  Tonight at our church's Christmas Eve Service, we participated in the Lord's Supper.  I don't know what everyone else thinks about this, but I would have to say that taking communion on Christmas Eve was a first for me.  I really enjoyed it though, and here is why.  Usually, before eating my little tasteless cracker and drinking my slightly bitter grape juice, I take time to examine myself, and confess before God.  Well, tonight God spoke to me.  I have been struggling with a few private sins.  I was worried, because private sins don't always stay private, and they typically hurt others.  I can't even count the number of times I've asked God to forgive me of those sins.  Tonight, God told me why I haven't defeated something that I have been able to in the past.  It is because I have simply asked God for His forgiveness, because I felt guilty about the sin.  There was no repentance.  I felt bad, and to clear my conscience, I would ask for forgiveness.  While I know He will forgive me, it was as if I was not trying to gain freedom.  So, tonight, I genuinely repented at the Spirit's beckoning.  Please pray for me as I am seeking to live this repentance.  And please, everyone, take the time tonight and tomorrow to look inward and see if you are giving the best gift you could give.  A pure heart to our LORD Jesus Christ.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Finished!

I'm so glad that Monday afternoon, I officially finished my first semester of college.  And after all of this, I can say...I'm tired.  Good night!

Good news and Finals...

Hey Guys and Gals,
Nick made it!  Apparently they gave him a random extra test, and he passed!  He should be home anytime.  Praise the Lord for His faithfulness.  I am so excited.
Ok, so my first college final is in 7 1/2 hours.  I've been studying all night.  My second college final is in 10 1/2 hours.  So, I'm a little nervous.  This isn't one of those if I don't get a good grade then I won't pass, but it is if I don't get a good grade then I won't keep my A.  This is supposed to be my easiest semester.  I would really like to come out with a 4.0.  Please pray that I can do my best.  Economics is at 10:15, and History is at 1:00.  I would appreciate lots of prayer.

Keep Praying

Hey guys,
I just found out last night that Nick did not pass.  This means that he is going to have to go through  6 more weeks of basic again.  He had a very rough time the first time, so please be lifting him up in prayer, and also pray that he will be able to come home for Christmas.  I haven't heard whether or not they'll let him.  I can not imagine the mental load this would put on a guy, but I'm sure it can lead to some depression.  Please, please pray that the LORD will be his strength and give him determination to pass.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
Daniel
